Floor and wall tiling is the backbone of what we do at Alee Tile Worx. Whether it's a full living area in large-format porcelain, a hallway in natural stone or a laundry in ceramic, the principles are the same: a perfectly prepared substrate, a level bed and tiles laid with precision from the first tile to the last. The difference between average tiling and excellent tiling is almost entirely in the preparation, and that's where we spend our time.
The Foundation of Every Great Tile Job Is a Level Surface
Tiles laid on an uneven substrate will crack, hollow out and lift over time — and no amount of grouting will fix that once the adhesive has set. Before we lay a single tile we check the floor or wall for deviation, grind down high spots, fill low areas with self-levelling compound and confirm everything is within tolerance. That upfront preparation is what allows us to install large-format tiles without lippage and what keeps a tiled floor feeling solid underfoot for decades rather than months.
Large-Format Tiles, Complex Patterns and Natural Stone
We work with the full range of materials — rectified porcelain in formats up to 1200×600mm, polished and honed natural stone, textured slip-rated ceramic and everything in between. Larger tiles demand tighter tolerances and full back-buttering to eliminate voids, and we treat every format with the same level of care. If you have a specific layout in mind — herringbone, chevron, stacked bond, a centred pattern — we plan the layout before we cut so the finished result looks as considered as the design that inspired it.
Grout Selection, Application and a Clean Finish
Grout is the last step but not an afterthought. Joint width, grout colour and finish all affect how the tiles read in the room. We use quality grouts and sealers suited to the specific tile and space — unsanded for narrow joints, epoxy grout where staining resistance matters and colour-matched to make joints recede or contrast depending on the design intent. Once the grout cures we clean, seal and leave the surface ready to use.
